Summary
Iqamah is designed to keep personal worship tools private and local whenever possible. We do not sell personal information, we do not use advertising trackers, and the app does not require an account.
Information Iqamah Handles
Depending on which features you use, Iqamah may handle the following information on your Mac:
- Prayer time preferences, calculation method, notification settings, language settings, and other app preferences.
- Approximate or precise location if you choose to allow location access for prayer time calculations.
- Prayer habit, dhikr, tasbeeh, Hijri calendar, and related Pro feature data that you enter or generate in the app.
- The start and end times of events in calendars you select, if you turn on calendar-aware prayer planning in Iqamah Pro. Iqamah reads only when events begin and end — not their titles, participants, notes, or locations — and does not write to your calendars.
- A settings file Iqamah writes into a folder you choose, if you turn on settings sync in Iqamah Pro.
- Purchase status information — provided by Apple in the Mac App Store edition, or by StacknScope Inc.'s licensing service in the direct edition — to confirm whether Iqamah Pro is unlocked.
Iqamah stores app preferences and worship activity data locally on your device. StacknScope Inc. does not operate an Iqamah account system, and runs no server that receives this data. If you turn on settings sync, the file Iqamah writes goes into a folder you choose on your own Mac — typically inside iCloud Drive, where Apple, not StacknScope Inc., carries it between your Macs under your own iCloud account. It never reaches us.
Location Data
Iqamah may request location permission so it can calculate prayer times for your area. If you grant permission, location data is used for prayer time and related Islamic calendar features. We do not use location data for advertising or tracking.
You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in macOS System Settings. If location access is disabled, you may need to set or adjust your location manually in the app.
Calendar Data
Iqamah Pro can suggest a time for each prayer that avoids what is already booked on your day. This feature is off until you turn it on, and turning it on requires your permission to access calendars.
macOS provides no permission that grants only your busy times, so the permission Iqamah requests is full access to your calendars. What Iqamah does with it is narrower than what the permission allows: it reads the start and end times of events in the calendars you select, and nothing else. It does not read event titles, participants, notes, locations, or attachments, and it does not create, change, or delete anything in your calendars.
Calendar information is used on your Mac to place prayer suggestions and is not transmitted to StacknScope Inc. or to anyone else. It is not included in settings sync.
You can revoke calendar access at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars, or turn the feature off in Iqamah's preferences. Doing either stops the reading immediately; prayer times themselves are unaffected.
Settings Sync
Iqamah Pro can keep your preferences the same across your Macs. It is off until you turn it on, and turning it on asks you to choose a folder — normally one inside iCloud Drive.
Each Mac writes a single file into an Iqamah folder there, named after that Mac, and reads the files written by your other Macs. The files are ordinary, visible files: you can open them, back them up, or delete them, and deleting them ends the sync.
The file contains your app preferences and your prayer-habit and dhikr history. It does not contain your location — coordinates, city, country, and time zone are deliberately excluded and stay on the Mac they are set on. It does not contain your licence key.
StacknScope Inc. operates no part of this. The folder belongs to you, and if it is inside iCloud Drive the transfer between your Macs is Apple's, under your iCloud account and Apple's privacy policy. Turning the feature off, or removing the folder, stops it.
Qur'an Recitations
Iqamah can stream and download Qur'an recitation audio. These recordings are served from StacknScope Inc.'s own storage at iqamahapp.com — no third party is contacted to play or download them, and Iqamah does not report which reciter, surah, or ayah you listen to. At launch, Iqamah fetches a small list of available reciters from iqamahapp.com so newly added reciters can appear without an app update; that request contains no personal information.
Purchases
Iqamah is available in two editions, and they handle purchases differently.
Mac App Store edition. Iqamah Pro purchases are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. Apple may process payment information, purchase history, and related account information under Apple's own privacy policy. StacknScope Inc. does not receive your full payment card details.
Direct edition, downloaded from this website. Payment is handled by Stripe on a page hosted by Stripe. Iqamah never displays a card form and StacknScope Inc. never receives your card details. To issue and honour a licence, StacknScope Inc.'s licensing service stores:
- your email address, so a licence key can be sent to you and recovered later;
- a record that a purchase occurred, and Stripe's identifiers for it;
- a one-way hash of your licence key, never the key itself, which is re-derived when you ask for it;
- a random identifier the app generates for each installation, stored only as a one-way hash, so that a licence can be limited to three Macs;
- the name your Mac reports for itself, so you can tell your devices apart when removing one.
Iqamah does not collect a serial number, MAC address, or any other hardware identifier, and the installation identifier is random rather than derived from your machine.
If you start a free trial, one-way hashes of your email address and installation identifier are stored so that the trial can be limited to one per person and per Mac. Those hashes cannot be turned back into an address. Your email address itself is also stored while the trial runs, so the confirmation link and a reminder shortly before the trial ends can be sent to you; it is removed once the trial has expired, leaving only the hashes.
Iqamah's widgets never receive your licence key or contact the licensing service.
Website Data
When you visit this website, our hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, referrer, and timestamps. This information is used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
Third Parties
We rely on these providers. Each processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Apple distributes the Mac App Store edition and processes its purchases. If you enable settings sync and choose a folder inside iCloud Drive, Apple also carries that file between your own Macs under your iCloud account.
- Stripe processes payments for the direct edition, including any use of Link. Card details go to Stripe and never to StacknScope Inc.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and the licensing service. As infrastructure, Cloudflare processes the IP address of requests your Mac makes to the service.
- Resend delivers email about your own trial or licence: trial confirmation, a reminder shortly before a trial ends, licence delivery, licence recovery, and notice if a licence stops being active. There is no newsletter or mailing list, and your address is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to tell you about anything other than the trial or licence it belongs to.
We do not share Iqamah app data with advertising networks, and the licensing service is not used to build a profile of you.
Data Retention and Deletion
For the direct edition, licence records are kept for as long as the licence is valid, because a lifetime licence has to remain honourable and recoverable. Records of trials are kept so that a trial is not issued twice, but only as one-way hashes once the trial has expired: the email address held during the trial is removed at that point. Short-lived items expire on their own: a purchase attempt after 24 hours, a recovery link after 20 minutes, and a device management session after 30 minutes.
To have your licensing records deleted, write to the address below from the email address associated with the purchase. Deleting them ends the ability to recover or reactivate that licence, since nothing is left to prove it existed.
Local Iqamah app data remains on your Mac unless you delete it, reset app settings, or remove the app and its associated data. If you enabled settings sync, the files in the folder you chose remain there until you delete them; removing the app does not remove them for you. You can also revoke system permissions, such as location and calendar access, through macOS System Settings.
Website server logs and infrastructure records, if any, are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, diagnostics, operations, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.
Your Choices
- You can use Iqamah without creating an account.
- You can deny or revoke location permission in macOS System Settings.
- You can change notification permissions in macOS System Settings.
- You can deny or revoke calendar permission in macOS System Settings, or leave calendar-aware planning turned off.
- You can leave settings sync turned off, or turn it off and delete the folder it used.
- You can reset Iqamah settings or delete local app data from your Mac.
- You can contact StacknScope Inc. to ask privacy-related questions or request deletion of information we may hold about you.
Children's Privacy
Iqamah is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to StacknScope Inc., contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
International Users
Iqamah may be used in different countries and regions. If you contact us or visit this website, information may be processed in the country where StacknScope Inc., its service providers, or hosting infrastructure operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Iqamah changes, when our practices change, or when legal or App Store requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page shows when this policy was last updated.
